About Calwyn
Calwyn covers toenail health, foot care supplements, and topical remedies for people whose feet take daily use. The scope is narrow by design: barefoot-intensive living and the nail and skin problems that come with it. Nothing requiring clinical expertise, nothing cosmetic beyond what matters for health and function.
I run this site. My name is Julia Rennick and I teach yoga barefoot six days a week in Portland, Oregon. I learned through my own experience that keeping a clean mat does not make you immune to foot problems. Everything published here comes from extended personal use, not press samples or first impressions.
The testing standard that gives this site its backbone started as a practical necessity. Without photographs taken at the same angle under the same light, it was genuinely impossible to tell whether a nail was improving or just photographing differently on a better day. Biweekly photos against the same white bathroom tile, under the same overhead light, saved and compared across months. That is the floor before anything gets written about here.
Nothing on this site is medical advice. The information is based on personal experience and careful tracking, offered so you can compare it to your own situation. For nail or skin concerns that need professional attention, see your own podiatrist or dermatologist.
